I’ve entered the Guitar Center Songwriting Contest.

And discovered that the initial phase of this contest is really a social media competition, not a songwriting contest at all. Though, I suppose, having a half decent song or two to enter doesn’t hurt.

But to be competitive in this contest, you have to gather up followers. viewers, whatevers and clutter up the internet with people who interact with your songs. You could be the next Cole Porter or Joni Mitchell and if you can’t get folks to share your videos enough — you’re gone.
